An unlikely toy: a seed syringe

One of the nicest things about gardening with a toddler is how you get to see things you take for granted through their eyes. Sticking seeds into a seed syringe and then using it to sow reliable amounts of seeds is something I'd do without even thinking about it, but GarlicBoy was fascinated by the whole process. He spent a while simply unscrewing and then replacing the lid, and then painstakingly filled it pinch by tiny pinch with tiny carrot seeds. I ended up doing most of the actual sowing of the carrot seeds in the raised beds myself as after spending a good twenty minutes "practising" sowing seeds on our table, sowing them into earth where they were hard to see seemed much less interesting!
